Guar Gum Slime
Similar to xanthan gum in the methods of mixing it, Guar Gum will create a less liquidy substance and more of a gel-like consistency. It is slightly cheaper than Xanthan Gum, but you need to use a bit more, so it probably equals itself out. You may also add other substances to it, such as food items, color, etc.

Xanthan Gum Slime
Xanthan gum and water make a nice transparent slime, almost like the Japanese "lotion". The problem is mixing it. It forms lumps on contact with water no matter how fast or hard you try to stir it. The solution I prefer is to use a large food-processor with a sharp blade at the bottom. As lumps form, the blade slices through them and everything dissolves nice and quickly. The resulting slime is kind of white in color, but you can add any food coloring or poster paint colors while mixing it. You can also blend it will with other substances. You could even add food substances and it would get thicker. It's very versatile and not too difficult to rinse off afterwards. SAFETY ADVICE: When pouring the powder into the mixer, some will float through the air, and it's best not to inhale it. I just hold my breath, pour it, put the cover on and walk away. The only harm it might cause would be to dry out the airways, as it absorbs so much liquid. It is a food, so it is non-toxic and safe.
